Motorcyclist Killed in Southeast Fresno Collision

April 20 Fresno motorcycle crash.pngFRESNO -- A heartbreaking and fatal motorcycle accident happened at about 6:15 a.m. Friday in the southeast region of Fresno. Information from the Fresno Bee stated a motorcyclist of a Honda FX 1000 was traveling east on Kings Canyon Boulevard when the driver of a Toyota sedan going westbound on Kings Canyon attempted to make a U-turn in front of the approaching motorcyclist.

The rider, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver who is a subcontractor for an independent newspaper distributer and delivering newspapers at the time of the incident, has been identified as 31-year-old Visa Vue of Fresno. No further details were released or if Vue was injured in the accident.

One Killed, One Injured in Central Fresno Car Crash

FRESNO -- A devastating two-car accident in central Fresno tragically killed a woman and left a man in critical condition Tuesday night. The accident happened at 7:39 p.m. near Fedora Avenue and Fresno Street, Fresno Bee reports. It is unclear what caused the SUV and the small compact vehicle to collide, but witnesses at the scene told officers that the driver of the sport utility vehicle was traveling at a very high rate of speed. Fresno police stated the woman in the car died at the scene, and the male driver of the SUV was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

Three Injured in Highway 168 Crash in Fresno

FRESNO COUNTY -- A horrific Fresno head-on collision on Highway 168 left three people injured Monday afternoon, KSEE 24 News reported. According to the California Highway Patrol, the April 16th accident happened around 1:45 p.m. when a Toyota pickup truck attempted to pass over a solid yellow line and collided head-on with an oncoming car traveling westbound on Highway 168 near Academy Avenue.

The driver of the pickup suffered only minor injuries. However, one of the occupants in the other vehicle was airlifted to hospital and the other transported via ambulance. Their injuries or their conditions were not currently available.

Woman Killed in Clovis Head-On Car Accident

FRESNO COUNTY - According to the Fresno Bee, a 39-year-old woman was killed in an early morning crash in Clovis. At about 6:15 a.m. Saturday, Taft H Gaines III, 20, of Auberry, was traveling in a 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck on Auberry Road north of Copper Avenue when for unknown reasons he drifted across the double yellow center line and collided with a 2006 Toyota Scion traveling south. Following the collision the Scion spun and collided with a 2002 Ford pickup.

The woman driving the Scion was reported to have tragically died at the scene of the accident. Gaines suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Clovis Community Hospital. The driver of the Ford, Juan N. Guzman, 59, of Sanger, was not injured in the accident.

Sanger Woman Struck and Killed by Truck in Fresno

FRESNO - A 65-year-old woman from Sanger was fatally struck by a truck in Fresno Saturday. The devastating accident happened at about 8 p.m. when the woman was attempting to cross the street on Kings Canyon Road to go to a restaurant, and then struck by a Chevrolet Blazer traveling on the eastbound lane, Fresno Bee reported. The driver of the Blazer was not injured and remained at the scene. The name of the female pedestrian is being withheld until her family is notified.

One Killed, Three Injured in Fiery Fresno Car Accident

FRESNO - One man was tragically killed and at least three people were injured in a fiery multi-vehicle crash in southeast Fresno, The Fresno Bee reports. The wreck involved possibly three vehicles on the Kings Canyon Road and Maple Avenue intersection at about 2:24 a.m. Sunday. When police and fire crews arrived at the scene after they received two calls regarding a car speeding and a two-car accident, they found a vehicle engulfed in flames, along with a damaged SUV.

Firefighters pulled the male driver out of the burning vehicle and extinguished the flames. He was then taken to a hospital where he later died due to his injures. Three occupants in the SUV sustained non-life-threatening injuries after the accident, and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center. The third car captured on a video policing camera was seen speeding down Kings Canyon Road, but investigators have not reviewed the video to determine if the vehicle was involved in the fatal collision.

Motorcyclist Killed in Highway 99 Accident in Fresno

FRESNO -- A motorcyclist, whose age and name was not released, was tragically killed in an accident off a Fresno freeway Friday afternoon. According to the Fresno Bee, the accident occurred at 12:40 p.m. on southbound Highway 99 near North Avenue, when a vehicle made an unsafe lane change forcing the motorcyclist to run off the left side of the roadway. The incident caused the motorcyclist to be thrown off his bike and land in gravel. The vehicle involved in the crash did not remain at the scene, and officers believe the driver did not realize what happened.

According to The Fresno Bee, the driver of a 1960s Chevrolet Nova sped west out of a filling station on Olive Avenue near Peach Street, veered onto the eastbound lanes and slammed into a late-model pickup truck.

The 29-year-old male driver of the Nova, was driving with a suspended license and was killed after the crash. The driver and two children inside the pickup truck were taken via ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

The boy, whose name was not released, was crossing the street while riding his bicycle near Al Radka Park in southeast Fresno when a pickup truck traveling east on Belmont Avenue struck him. After the collision, the boy was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

FRESNO COUNTY -- A man and his dog was seriously hit by a vehicle in the city of Clovis on Monday night, Fresno Bee reported. The man, Dennis Costello, 63, of Clovis, was walking his dog near Fowler and Shepherd avenues around 8 p.m. at a crosswalk that has embedded lights. As Costello was attempting to cross the street, both him and his dog was severely struck by a vehicle. According to Clovis police spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee, the driver apparently did not see the pedestrian and his dog or the crosswalk lights, before crashing into him. Following this devastating accident, Costello was reported to have died at the scene, and his dog was transported to emergency pet hospital to treat a broken leg.

According to California Highway Patrol, Jeanette Martinez was side-swiped at the intersection of Belmont and Temperance Avenue. CHP stated, the driver, whose name has not been released, hit Martinez's vehicle after running a stop sign. Following the collision, Martinez and two of three passengers in her vehicle were transported to Community Regional Medical Center for further treatment. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were taken to CRMC with minor injuries.

Driver Found Dead After Big-Rig Accident on Highway 99

highway99.jpgFRESNO COUNTY - A 63-year-old truck driver was found dead early Wednesday morning after the big-rig he was driving struck a concrete pillar on Highway 99, reports the Fresno Bee. Although the cause of the driver's death has not been determined, according to the California Highway Patrol, the truck driver did not appear to die from any injuries he sustained in the June 29th accident. A 41-year-old Lancaster man, who was a passenger in the big-rig, suffered minor injuries in the collision. The condition of the passenger is not known.

Cause of Highway 99 Truck Accident

If news reports are accurate, shortly after midnight, the truck, which was traveling southbound on Highway 99 north of Jensen Avenue, drifted to the right, hit a concrete pillar and came to a stop on an embankment. Due to the impact of the crash, the truck's fuel tank was ruptured and spilled out onto the highway's shoulder. It is not clear why the truck drifted to the right. It is possible the truck drifted because of a tire blowout, steering system malfunction or shifted cargo. The cause of the crash is currently being investigated by the CHP. Hopefully, their investigation will provide answers to how and why this collision occurred.
