ALAMEDA COUNTY -- A 40-year-old man in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a van while crossing the street in Hayward, San Francisco Chronicle reported. The accident happened at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, when David Gomez, of Hayward, was hit by a white Ford Econoline while attempting to cross at a crosswalk at Patrick Avenue and Gomer Street. Following the accident, the driver of the van stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the police.
