FRESNO COUNTY -- A man and his dog was seriously hit by a vehicle in the city of Clovis on Monday night, Fresno Bee reported. The man, Dennis Costello, 63, of Clovis, was walking his dog near Fowler and Shepherd avenues around 8 p.m. at a crosswalk that has embedded lights. As Costello was attempting to cross the street, both him and his dog was severely struck by a vehicle. According to Clovis police spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee, the driver apparently did not see the pedestrian and his dog or the crosswalk lights, before crashing into him. Following this devastating accident, Costello was reported to have died at the scene, and his dog was transported to emergency pet hospital to treat a broken leg.

Cause of the Clovis Pedestrian Accident

Based on the limited information provided by the Fresno Bee, it is not known what caused the driver to have struck the pedestrian. Therefore, police officials investigating the collision will certainly look at numerous factors that include, distracted driving, the speed of the vehicle at the time of accident, road conditions, and/or negligent and reckless actions of the driver.
