Five Injured in Southeast Fresno Car Crash

close-up of ambulance.jpgFRESNO COUNTY -- A 40-year-old woman from Sanger was severely injured in a car crash just after 6 p.m. Saturday night, CBS 47 reports. According to California Highway Patrol, Jeanette Martinez was side-swiped at the intersection of Belmont and Temperance Avenue. CHP stated, the driver, whose name has not been released, hit Martinez's vehicle after running a stop sign. Following the collision, Martinez and two of three passengers in her vehicle were transported to Community Regional Medical Center for further treatment. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were taken to CRMC with minor injuries.

The accident on August 20th remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. However, based on the limited information provided by CBS 47, it appears the driver may be at fault for the accident due to either negligent or reckless actions. Pedestrian Tragically Killed by a Muni Bus in San Francisco's Castro District

18th and Hartford.pngSAN FRANCISCO -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Municipal Railway bus in San Francisco's Castro District at about 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sacramento Bee reports. Police has reported the female pedestrian was walking through a crosswalk at the intersection of 18th and Hartford when she was severely hit by a Muni bus. San Francisco police Sgt. Michael Andraychack stated that the Muni bus is a shuttle for the F-Market line and was making a left turn onto Hartford while on its way to the 17th and Market streets F-Market line stop. Andraychack also noted that the bus was not carrying any passengers during accident. According to San Francisco Fire Department spokeswoman Mindy Talmdage, the pedestrian, who believed to be between 25 to 30 years old, was removed from underneath the bus and pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m. The bus driver reported to be cooperating with the investigation and will be tested for drugs and alcohol per San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency protocol.

Pedestrian Struck by Motorcycle in Cottonwood

COTTONWOOD - A pedestrian was reportedly struck by a motorcycle Tuesday night in Cottonwood, KRCRTV.com reported. The accident was reported on Main Street near the OK Corral at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011. According to hews accounts, a group of pedestrians was walking northbound on Main Street when one of them walked in front of a motorcycle that was also travelling northbound. The operator of the motorcycle and the pedestrian both suffered severe injuries and were taken to Mercy Medical Center.

The cause of this motorcycle vs. pedestrian accident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, who will surely review witness reports, skid mark evidence, speed, the location of the pedestrian in the street when the collision occurred, and other factors in determining what happened, and who was responsible. Sacramento Girl Seriously Injured in Dog Attack

pit bull.jpgSACRAMENTO COUNTY-- Sabrina Carrasco, a 9-year-old Sacramento girl underwent a third surgery on Tuesday following a horrific dog attack in an apartment complex lawn area at 7718 La Mancha Way, News10 reported. Witnesses at the scene saw Carrasco playing with her teenage cousin Joandra Solis, and two toddlers before being viscously mauled by a neighbor's pit bull/labrador mix dog at about 9 p.m. Saturday. Prior to the dog attack, the pit bull/labrador escaped a fenced yard and rushed toward the girls. Solis picked up the two toddlers and told Carrasco to stay still. Frightened for her life, Carrasco tried to runaway but it was too late. Gina Knepp, spokeswoman for the Sacramento City Animal Control, reported Carrasco suffered injuries to her head, shoulder, side and back. Carrasco was taken to the University of California Medical Center at Davis to undergo further treatment.

Ana Reyes, Carrasco's mother, explained that her daughter is very traumatized by the event and will never be the same. According to UC Davis Medical Center officials, Carrasco is in good condition, but her doctors say there could be damages to the nerves on her face.

As for the dog owner, who didn't want to be identified, stated he didn't take the necessary precaution of alerting the parents that the kids, including one of Carrasco's relatives were provoking the dog in the past by throwing rocks, shooting pellets, and taunting it. However, he is very sorry for what happened and knows the attack was inexcusable. The owner has voluntarily given up the dog to be put down on Tuesday.

Three Killed, Seven Injured in Interstate 5 Crash Near Woodland

truckaccidenti5.jpgYOLO COUNTY - Three people were killed Monday afternoon in a chain-reaction wreck on southbound Interstate 5, the Sacramento Bee and multiple other news outlets reported. The triple fatal accident was reported just north of County Road 102 just before 12:45 p.m. on August 8, 2011. Two sport utility vehicles, a jeep, a small four-door passenger car and a tractor-trailer big-rig all went up in flames.

According to the Sacramento Bee, two adults in one of the SUVs died, as well as a child riding in the passenger car. Witnesses reportedly tried to retrieve the child rrom the car, but were pushed back by flames. Seven other people were taken to local hospitals, UC Davis Medical Center (Sacramento), Kaiser Permanente and Mercy San Juan Medical Center (Carmichael). Injuries reportedly ranged from moderate to severe.

News 10 reported that the crash began when traffic was beginning to merge into the left lane to accommodate an upcoming construction zone. A small car, reportedly possibly an Acura, was pushed into the center divider and became engulfed in flames. A Jeep Wrangler was then struck and pushed into the flames. It is unclear who two other vehicles and a larger truck became involved. The tractor-trailer ended up on its side.
