Santa Rosa Car Accidents Cause Serious Injuries

On August 31st, 2010, a pedestrian in a wheelchair was taken to a hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Mendocino Avenue near Courthouse Square in Santa Rosa. The pedestrian accident was caused by the driver of a vehicle who failed to stop before making a right turn at a red light. Drivers turning right must yield to the right-of-way to pedestrians lawfully within a crosswalk, under California Vehicle Code Section 21453 (b).

Car vs. Bicycle Accidents in Santa Rosa

On August 9, 2010, a cyclist was seriously injured when struck by a car turning left into a business on River Road, west of Fulton Road. The accident was caused by the driver of the vehicle that failed to yield to the right-of-way of the cyclist. California Vehicle Code Section 21801 states: "The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left or to complete a U-turn upon a highway, or to turn left into public or private property, or an alley, shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching from the opposite direction..." This includes bicycles.
